  Teen Snow Sculpture Contest

Do you have a snow day and are left wondering what to do? Enter the Livonia Library’s Teen Snow Sculpture Contest! Open to all teens in grades 7-12. To enter our snow sculpture contest, simply create a sculpture out of snow and submit a photograph of it by Saturday, February 27 at 5:00 p.m. Fabulous prizes will be awarded for winners. There will be additional consideration given to literary or library themed entries. E-mail a digital photograph of your sculpture to pgoonis@livonia.lib.mi.us, noblelibrarian@yahoo.com, or jvisnaw@livonia.lib.mi.us, or leave a photo with one of the Teen Services Librarians at your nearest Livonia branch library, along with your name, grade, school and phone number and/or e-mail address. Come and be a part of the Teen Advisory Committee for the Library. Tell us what programs you want to see, and help us plan our summer reading program! Get volunteer hours for school, and get some good leadership opportunities. We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 6 pm at Civic Center. Meetings last about one hour. Refreshments provided.

Chase away your winter Blues!! In recognition of Black History Month, Canton resident Carl Henry will be celebrating the music of the Blues. Originally born in the deep South at the end of the 19th century, its influence would impact jazz, pop, and rock n’ roll. Numerous presidents have been linked to Civil Rights in America. The most commonly mentioned: Harry Truman, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, and William Clinton; but little credit is given to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The inclusiveness of his New Deal; aligning Blacks to the Democratic Party; and welcoming them into the public sphere presented Blacks the Opportunity to be recognized in greater aspects of American life. Honor Black History Month as Carrie Smith presents a program on the impact President Roosevelt had on Black America and his influences still seen today. 7pm in the Civic Center Library auditorium.

  Teen Snow Sculpture Contest

Do you have a snow day and are left wondering what to do? Enter the Livonia Library’s Teen Snow Sculpture Contest! Open to all teens in grades 7-12. To enter our snow sculpture contest, simply create a sculpture out of snow and submit a photograph of it by Saturday, February 27 at 5:00 p.m. Fabulous prizes will be awarded for winners. There will be additional consideration given to literary or library themed entries. E-mail a digital photograph of your sculpture to pgoonis@livonia.lib.mi.us, noblelibrarian@yahoo.com, or jvisnaw@livonia.lib.mi.us, or leave a photo with one of the Teen Services Librarians at your nearest Livonia branch library, along with your name, grade, school and phone number and/or e-mail address.
