  • Storytime Programs

    Children’s storytime and music programs are open to preschool Livonia children. All children younger than three years old must be accompanied by an adult (one child per adult), unless otherwise specified. Space is limited so register early!

    At Civic Center Library, registration begins Monday, March 10 at 9:00 am (734) 466-2493. At Noble Library, registration begins Monday, March 10 at 12:00 pm (734) 421-4235. At Sandburg Library, registration begins Tuesday, March 11 at 12:00 pm (248) 893-4010. Register for storytimes in person or by phone.

    Sessions begin the week of March 17 and end the week of April 28.


    BABY STORYTIME*
    Ages 12 to 23 months with parent or loving caregiver
    Babies are invited to bring a loving caregiver along for songs, simple stories, and other activities that introduce our youngest patrons to the pleasures of the library. Registration required. Helpful Hints

    MUSICAL MAYHEM
    Ages 3 to 6
    Fun with action songs, instruments, the parachute, beanbags, and a short story. Parents and siblings welcome to join in. No registration required. Come when you can! Call ahead to confirm dates.

    SATURDAY CINEMA
    All ages welcome; young children must be accompanied by an adult
    Saturdays, March 15, April 12, and May 3 at 2:00 pm
    Join us every month for a free G or PG-rated film in the Library auditorium (sorry, no food or drink allowed). Films are subject to change. Contact the Library at (734) 466-2493 to confirm titles. No registration required.

    PAWS FOR READING: CHILDREN READING TO DAISY*
    For beginning readers ages 6 and older
    Saturdays, March 15, April 12, and May 17 at 1:00 pm
    Bring your favorite book and enjoy time improving your reading with our four-legged friend, and resident Reading Therapy dog, Daisy. Register in person at the Children’s desk, or by phone at (734) 466-2493.

    WIND TOYS AND SOAP BUBBLE MAKERS*
    Ages 7 to 12
    Saturday, March 22 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm
    Learn to make pinwheels, kites, paper airplanes, and other wind toys from folded paper. Have fun with soap bubbles and make different blowing shapes. Register in person, or by phone at (734) 466-2493, beginning Monday, March 10.

    Kids and teens are invited to vote for their favorite author, illustrator, and book of the year at ccbookawards.com. And don’t forget to pick up your “I voted” sticker at the Children’s Reference Desk. Children’s Choice Book Award is the only national book award where the winners are selected by kids!     PRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE

    Saturday, April 5 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
    Are you looking for a preschool for your child? Stop by the library from 11:00am to 1:00pm. You can gather information and talk with representatives from area preschools. There will also be a 30 minute presentation at 12:30 pm in the Livonia Civic Center Library Auditorium on “Raising a Reader.” Click HERE to view the flyer.

    MONEY SMART KIDS READ: HOW TO SURVIVE A ZOMBIE ATTACK*
    Grades K through 6
    Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00 pm
    Is saving money more difficult than surviving an attack by an army of flesh-eating zombies? Join us for an evening of interactive financial fun to find out!     MONEY SMART KIDS READ: THE BERENSTAIN BEARS’ TROUBLE WITH MONEY STORYTIME*

    Enjoy a story and create your own piggy bank to take home! Mom and Dad will receive a list of money tips and recommended resources for teaching kids about good financial habits.     FIND YOUR FOCUS: A BRAIN HEALTH EDUCATION EVENT*
    Tuesday, April 29 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm

    BOOK BITES
    Grades 3 through 6
    Saturdays, May 3 and 17 and June 7 and 21 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm
    Meet new friends, bring a favorite book to talk about, and share a snack while you listen to the other kids' favorites. Come one week or all four weeks. If you let us know your title(s) ahead of time, we can try to have extra copies for the other kids to look at.
